@MrHappysap
Drug test usage varies from area to area. In my city, you have to pass a drug test as well as a lie detector test. They make allowances for some pot experimentation, but it can’t have been within the last half year or something like that. Any drug harder than that, even LSD usage years ago, and you won’t get hired.

@drainic
In the US, having a college degree will give you an edge. You’re more likely to get hired and are considered for promotions before those of equal experience but lacking a degree. Some areas even require a degree. For example, if memory serves, NYC only hires college graduates now.
Because of affirmative action, being female or a minority will also increase your likelihood of getting hired.
Overall, when it comes to promotions, it’s based on experience and how well you do on the test.

No, you are right. …
No, you are right. I wasn’t thinking when I wrote that. An actual 4 year diploma is becoming increasingly unnecessary especially in technical fields like law enforcement. I think whatever training officers go through is probably more valuable.
A college degree …
A college degree wont help a police officer out in the streets. A piece of papper doesn’t make someone a super cop.
Do you think a college degree will help you run faster or block bullets?
Police depratment do not like verbose college like reports.
